Proportion of expenditure on education, health and social protection according to the Classification of the Functions of Government (COFOG) in total general government expenditure. 

Government expenditure on health, education and social protection includes expenditure on services and transfers provided to individual persons and households and expenditure services provided on a collective basis. 

The general government provides services (and goods) for personal consumption (predominantly on a non-market / non-profit basis) and reallocates income and wealth and consists of central government, regional levels of government, local levels of government and social security funds.

Total government expenditure on essential services (education, health and social protection) is expressed as a percentage of total government expenditure according to COFOG data
