Indicator measures Government efforts to put in place legal frameworks that promote, enforce and monitor gender equality.

Methodological explanations

The removal of discriminatory laws and the establishment of legal frameworks that promote gender equality are prerequisites for ending discrimination against women and achieving gender equality (Goal 5, Target 5.1). The questionnaire contains four areas of law from the international legal and policy framework on gender equality (CEDAW, Beijing Platform for Action, etc.) and contains 42 Yes/No questions.

Method of calculation

The scoring methodology is calculated as an unweighted average of the questions in each area of ​​law.
