| Definition | |
Indicator represents percentage of population connected to urban wastewater treatment with at least secondary treatment.
Secondary treatment of wastewater includes the biological treatment by secondary collection which BOD5 result is a reduction of at least 70% and COD at least up to 75%. Tertiary treatment is the continuation of the secondary treatment where organic pollution is reduced at least up to 95% as for BOD5 and 85% as for COD. | |
| Methodological explanations | |
The source of data is a statistical survey on wastewater from settlements. The methodological instrument used to conduct the survey is the Survey on Wastewater from Settlements, Questionnaire (VOD-2k).
Purifying wastewater means freeing it from hazardous and harmful substances and radionuclides to the permitted extent and making it harmless for use.
Data is collected annually.
