Definition

Proportion of youth (aged 15-24 years or 15-29) not in education, employment or training is called NEETs rate.  

Methodological explanations

Persons that are classified as NEET are not employed (i.e. unemployed or inactive according to the International Labour Organization definition) and they have not received any education or training (i.e. neither formal nor non-formal) in the four weeks preceding the survey.

Method of calculation

NEET  rate= ((Unemployed youth + Youth outside the labour force)– (Unemployed youth in education or training+Youth outside the labour force in education or training))/ Total Youth X 100
