Definition

Number of automated teller machines (ATM) per 100,000 adults.

 

ATM means an electromechanical device enabling card holders to place and/or withdraw cash and/or use other services (e.g. transfer of funds, statement of account etc). Number of automated teller machines (ATM): number of ATM with a cash withdrawal function in the Republic of Serbia, at which a payment service provider (a bank, an electronic money institution, a payment institution, the Treasury Administration or other public authority bodies in the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with their competences established by law, a public postal operator with its head office in the Republic of Serbia, established in accordance with the law governing postal services) renders the service of accepting payment cards for withdrawing cash.

 

The adult population refers to the population aged 15 and over, at the end of the year.

Method of calculation

The number of automated teller machines (ATMs) per 100,000 adult population is calculated as the ratio of the number of automated teller machines to the number of adult population multiplied by 100,000.
