Definition | |
Passenger transport refers to the movement of passengers from the place of embarkation to the place of disembarkation. The unit of measurement in passenger transport is 1 pkm, representing the movement of one person over a distance of one kilometer.
Methodological explanations
Passenger transport data is obtained by monitoring passengers transported by air, road, rail, and urban transport.
The data on air and road passenger transport refer to transport carried out by transport enterprises (organizations registered in the domain of transport activities), regardless of whether the transport is being conducted within or outside the country, on the account of the domestic or foreign user.
The railway passenger transport volume, displayed in passenger-kilometers, refers to the transport carried out within the territory of the Republic of Serbia, as well as outside the borders of our country.
Data on urban transport are composed based on the operations of the transport enterprises, i.e. of their sections, and refer to transport performed in towns in which the whole transport equipment, or at least its part, is used in passenger transportation for both public and suburban transport.
Method of calculation | |
Passenger-kilometers in total passenger transport are obtained by summing passenger kilometers in land and air transport.
Passenger kilometers in total land transport are obtained by summing passenger kilometers in railway, road, and urban traffic. Passenger kilometers in urban transport are obtained by weighting the number of transported passengers with a coefficient.
