Definition and methodologyTop
Definition

This indicator is defined as the ratio between manufacturing value added and the gross domestic product (GDP), represented as a percentage.

Methodological explanations

Gross value added of each industry is calculated as the difference between output (value of production) at basic prices and intermediate consumption at purchasers’ prices. Gross value added is calculated separately for each institutional sector due to the different calculation methods of value of production – gross output.

Gross domestic product (GDP) by the production approach represents the sum of gross value added (GVA) of all sectors of the economy, increased by net taxes on products.

The gross value added (GVA) of the manufacturing industry represents the total value added created by all institutional units registered in the manufacturing sector. The manufacturing sector is defined according to the general standards of the Classification of Activities (KD 2010), which correspond to international standards set by Eurostat and the UN.
