15.1.1 Forest area as a proportion of total land area

15.1 By 2020, ensure the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems and their services, in particular forests, wetlands, mountains and drylands, in line with obligations under international agreements

Goal 15. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

The indicator represents the percentage share of forest area in the total area of the Republic of Serbia.

The data were obtained by calculation based on the results of the Second National Forest Inventory (2018-2023) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management - Forestry Administration.

The percentage share of forest area (excluding other forest land) in the total area of ​​the Republic of Serbia is presented.

A forest is an area covered with forest trees, with a minimum area of ​​5 ares and a minimum canopy cover of 30%.

The Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia has not had forest records for the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija since 1999, so they are not included in the data for the Republic of Serbia - total.
