The indicator shows whether countries have adopted legislative, administrative, and policy frameworks for the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization to the Convention on Biological Diversity (2010) and the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (2001).

Methodological explanations

The report on legislative, administrative, and policy frameworks is submitted by the officially designated CBD or ABS focal points.

Method of calculation

The indicator is calculated based on national information made available to the Access and Benefit-sharing Clearing-House. If a country has published at least one legislative, administrative or policy measure to ensure fair and equitable benefit-sharing, the data compilers will indicate 1 (1 = YES, 0 = NO).
