Percentage of detained persons in relation to the total number of prison population. Within the prison population in the Penal /correctional facilities institutions  in the Republic of Serbia there are: convicted persons; detained persons; misdemeanor-punished persons; persons on the maintenance of security measures (Obligatory psychiatric treatment and care in a health institution; Obligatory treatment of drug addicts; Alcoholics obligatory treatment); persons serving the sentence of juvenile prison and persons on educational measure of sending to correctional institution (juveniles).

The data source used is the Annual Report of the Administration for the Enforcement of Penal Sanctions, based on reports from the registry of all departments of the Administration for the Enforcement of Penal Sanctions.

The total number of detainees in the penal-correctional facilities of the Penal administration is divided by the total number of inmates in prisons on a specific date (31.12.) and multiplied by 100.
