Methodological explanations
Revenue is a fiscal indicator for assessing the sustainability of fiscal activities. The government has four types of revenue. The main types of revenue are taxes, social contributions, grants, transfers, and other revenue. Among these, compulsory levies and transfers are the primary sources of revenue for most government units. Specifically, taxes are compulsory, unrequited amounts claimed by government units from institutional units. Social contributions are actual or imputed revenues claimed by social insurance to ensure the provision of social insurance benefits. Other revenues include all claims from income excluding taxes, social contributions, and grants, and encompasses: property income; sales of goods and services; fines, penalties, and forfeits; transfers not elsewhere classified; and premiums, fees, and claims related to non-life insurance and standardized guarantee schemes.
Method of calculation | |
The calculation of the share of government sector revenue in gross domestic product is based on government finance statistics reporting.
