Definition | |
Exports of goods and services represent the value of all goods and other market services provided to the rest of the world. They include the value of merchandise, freight, insurance, transport, travel, royalties, license fees, and other services, such as communication, construction, financial, information, business, personal, and government services.
Methodological explanations
Balance of payments data on exports and imports of goods are provided to the national accounts at the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia (SORS) after the reconciliation of data from foreign trade statistics, compiled by SORS, and balance of payments statistics, compiled by the National Bank of Serbia (NBS).
Regarding the categories of goods included/excluded from exports and imports of goods according to national accounts methodology, SORS follows the ESA 2010 methodology. The sole data source for the export and import of services is the balance of payments statistics, compiled by NBS. Trade in services includes the provision of services by residents of the Republic of Serbia to non-residents and vice versa, regardless of whether the services are rendered domestically or abroad.
Method of calculation | |
Estimates of foreign trade in goods at constant prices are made at the level of sections (two-digit level) of the NACE Rev. 2 classification. Data at current prices are deflated using available or specially calculated indicators at the level of each individual activity section. The values of total exports and imports of goods at constant prices are then obtained as the sum of the values calculated at the activity section level.
For the purpose of calculating exports and imports of services at constant prices, services are classified into three main categories: transport services, tourism services, and other services. Deflation is carried out separately for each of these three categories using appropriate indicators (retail price indices, consumer price indices, and composite indicators calculated in national accounts).
